This place is paradise I'm sure
here's my reservation
I've gotten lost here once before
inside a good vibration.

My name is Lauren. I was born with my heart in Manhattan. I love shoes and funny people. I think too much.

So I write.

Appreciating the Situation: What I Learned From MTV’S Jersey Shore
Unless you have been living under a rock, or just can’t appreciate the vast entertainments derived from watching fake-tanned self-proclaimed guidos and guidettes get drunk and look stupid on national television, you most likely have not been tuning into Mtvs jersey shore every Thursday. You also, then, have not witnessed jersey shore’s Mike Sorrentino, who demands to be called “the situation” as he raises douchbagery to a whole notha level. This was gonna be a really long a pensive blog, but I don’t have the patience. Bottom line the jersey shore housemates are obnoxious and probably would not be friends if not forced to live under the same roof. People get called fat, people commit “the robbery”, people don’t know what they want so they try to have a little bit of everything, and then cry when they are caught on reunion shows when they realize that they were actually being filmed 24/7. Even so, you form a connection to people you live with, as even the most disagreeing castmates share a heartfelt goodbye. Because everything is a little bit sad when you think about how its never going to be as it is again. These 6 people will never live in the same house, in the same way, under the same unique circumstances that gave each of them their own personal 15 minutes of fame. It’s kind of like why movie sequels will always suck.  No matter how hard you try to fight it, a storyline can only happen once, and if you try to do it differently sometime down the road, then thats a new approach to an old situation, one that unfortunately has most likely altered.  Life is long but situations are a heartbeat. Your circumstances have their good points as well as their bad points, but these circumstances, wether good or bad, will ALWAYS change. You only have one chance to make the most of a situation, so why not make it a good one?  You won’t ever be able to replicate “the situation” , so make the best of it while it is here, fake tan, frosted tips and all.
